Tami Bonnell:  President at Exit Realty Corp, has the latest statistics on the overall Real Estate Market and what we can expect in the future.

Zach Schabot:  New Homes and Gen Y / Gen X Social Media Enthusiast. He is with Go Realty in Cary.

Bobby Carroll:  @rewebcoach is part of the Dakno Team.  They are based in Raleigh, support the real estate community with training and web solutions.

We are happy to announce that Homes4NC, a North Carolina-based charity which focuses on putting low-income families into safe and affordable housing, will be receiving a lions share of the remaining proceeds from RE BarCamp RDU. Homes4NC is an especially effective charity since every dollar donated is matched by local Boards of REALTORS® and put back into the housing industry.

Here’s how it works.  RE BarCampRDU has been asking companies and individuals to sponsor REBCRDU.  The sponsorship dollars go toward funding the Real Estate BarCamp and paying for any hard costs.  After the hard costs have been covered all additional proceeds from the event will go to Homes4NC and The Realtor Foundation of the Triangle.  After providing a matching donation, Homes4NC gives grants to non-profits that specifically support those who help our communities including teachers, firefighters, nurses and many others.  The Realtor Foundation of the Triangle supports these same needs with a focus on the Triangle.

One of the reasons we HAVE a REBarCamp in Raleigh is because of the one in Virginia Beach. I particularly wanted to go to that one to meet a couple of my “Jedis”… People I felt like I was learning from just by modeling and watching what they are doing.  I’m so happy that Naoma (who has been named one of the 25 Most Connected Mortgage Lenders in the Country) and Tina Merritt, who is also PHENOMINAL (and a big Hookie Fan!) will be at REBarCampRDU next week.

Bad news is… we have a full house coming to REBarCampRDU!

Last week we held a contest, leading up to REarCampRDU for a ticket to Real Estate Tech South. The Contestants were asked to submit two videos, and to encourage others to vote for them.

The first video was to reflect the way the Real Estate Agent marketed a home, the second video being judged was “Bloggers Choice.” When we first announced this challenge, we had no idea how hard this would be! Most of the contestants had not used video, to any large extent in their blogs – and therefore, had very little experience creating them!

Most of the entries were “slide show” type videos, although several people did more elaborate versions.

By overwhelming numbers, the winner is Tracy Santrock with Fonville Morisey! Tracy’s done several videos, and you can see them on her Cary NC Real Estate Blog, and her Activerain Blog.

Tracy’s been blogging since August 17, 2006!  WOW!  Most of us had not HEARD of real estate blogs in 2006!

Tracy said of one of her submissions that, “This video attempts to incorporate several key elements of a video that markets a property:

• True video shots
• Voice over (Yes I decided on the content beforehand because I think it’s more professional)
• A few still shots thrown in for fun
• My video program allows backlinks to my website and a capture program which is unique to most video providers”

We congratulate Tracy on winning the first RETSO Video Challenge – and look forward to seeing her at REBarCampRDU AND at RETSO next year!
